Faculty members, instructors, platoon commanders, and cadets of "Nicolae Bălcescu" Land Forces Academy of Sibiu, together with the young officers selected for the "Leaders for the Future" Programme, participated today in an Adaptive Leadership Seminar delivered by Maxwell Leadership at our institution.
The event featured Sorin Popa, President of Maxwell Leadership Romania, who presented a contemporary perspective on leadership, emphasizing that genuine human connection is more important than hierarchy and that influence is built through authenticity, empathy, and effective communication.
Guided by the leadership values and principles promoted by John C. Maxwell—character-based leadership, continuous personal development, personal responsibility, and leading by example—participants engaged in a roundtable discussion that encouraged them to reflect on the idea that a leader's success is measured not only by results but also by the positive impact they have on those they lead. The discussions highlighted the importance of self-discipline, initiative, delegated authority, and maintaining a professional attitude.
A strong, adaptable, and credible military organization is built on well-trained people who are capable of inspiring and positively influencing others. Effective leaders are those who know how to listen, motivate, and create an environment in which people feel valued and empowered to perform at their best.
