       The efforts to improve the allied capabilities in the sphere of the CBRN defense date back from the Prague Summit from November 2002, where the allies endorsed five initiatives in the field of defense against nuclear, biological and chemical weapons as part of the engagements regarding the Prague capabilities. In the present context of proliferation of the threats and destruction capabilities in the C.B.R.N. domain, detection and decontamination are two fundamental components of C.B.R.N. defense.

       The project aims to achieve a modern endowment of the material basis for the education demarche of the students and for the development of the research in the field of C.B.R.N. (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) detection and decontamination. On of the principles at the basis of the modernization of the Romanian Army is represented by the promoting of modern technologies. The use of these technologies in the process of education and training will allow the operationalization of the forces according to the North Atlantic Alliance standards. The evolution of the military processes and phenomena is in close correlation with the technological development. In this context, the development of the research technology in the nuclear, biological and chemical field has a strong impact on the military environment. Upgrading the knowledge of the staff in the field of C.B.R.N Defense of the army means, among other things, the use of an advanced system of instruction tools and technologies.

       The main purpose is the making of a modern laboratory of detection and decontamination in the radioactive, chemical and biological field, where the cadets studying C.B.R.N Defense to become future specialists that will carry out activities both in the country and in the external military theatres of operations. The preparation in this field is extremely important because a unit which is deployed in a theatre of operations is 70% verified for C.B.R.N. Defense. Starting from this, we wish to develop forming, specialization and research programs within our institution aimed at discovering new techniques and technologies in the field of detection and decontamination equipment, which will enable the detection and the identification of toxic agents (chemical, biological and radioactive) in quantities as small as possible and in a very short time using efficient decontamination methods. All these demarches are ascribed to achieving very high educational standards, by increasing the quality of the educational act, by modernizing the didactic logistic, and by forming an adequate environment for the young researchers in the field.
