Land Forces Academy at the European Military Academies Commandants’ Seminar

Between 24-26 October, a delegation of the “Nicolae Balcescu” Land Forces Academy, consisting of COL Prof. Vasile Carutasu PhD, Vice-Rector and Deputy-Commandant for Programs and International Relations and COL Assoc. Prof. Ioan Virca PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Military Management, participated in the European Military Academies Commandants’ Seminar (EMACS), alongside representatives of the “Henri Coanda” Air Force Academy of Brasov and the Military Technical Academy of Bucharest, organized by the Theresian Military Academy, Wiener Neustadt, Austria.

The event, which was opened by the commandant of the Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt, MG Karl Pronhagl, brought together commandants and representatives of 35 military higher education institutions from 18 European countries, together with the Head of the European Security and Defense College, Mr. Dirk Dubois, the Chairman of the Implementation Group, COL Assoc. Prof. Harald Gell PhD and representatives of the central structures of the Bundesheer.

At the previous meeting of this seminar, which took place at the Estonian National Defense College in Tartu, Estonia, the representatives of the Land Forces Academy offered to host the EMACS 2019 edition, as in the first semester of 2019 Romania will take over the Presidency of the Council of the EU.!

As future organizers of the 2019 edition of this seminar, the head of the delegation, COL Vasile Carutasu spoke at the meeting stressing the importance of the process of internationalization in the military academies from the European space, the steps that our institution has done in this respect and the need to intensify the cooperation relations between the military higher education institutions. At the end of the speech, COL Carutasu sent to all those present the invitation of the LFA Rector to participate in this event, organized by our institution between 12-14/15 June 2019.
