LFA Students, Champions at the Final Stage of Sports and Applicative Military Competitions for Military Educational Institutions


From 15 to 20 April, the sports team of the “Nicolae Balcescu” Land Forces Academy participated in the final stage of the Ministry of National Defence Sports and Applicative Military Competitions for military educational institutions (Stage II, Applicative-Military Events, Athletics and Swimming) Constanta 2019.

Eight teams belonging to academies and military schools of warrant officers and non-commissioned officers were enrolled in the competition, the Sibiu team being coordinated by the brothers who a few years ago set the record for the 100 km race in Switzerland (7 hours and 29 minutes), Command Sergeant Major Francisc Sarosi and Iosif Sarosi.

The 39 participating cadets returned home victorious, winning 35 gold medals out of a total of 47, thus obtaining 1st place in swimming, 1st place in athletics, 1st place in patrol race and 1st place in men’s fire duel.

Among the students who evidenced themselves we mention Cadet Staff Sergeant Alexandru Alungulesa, with four gold medals, and Cadet Sergeant Ilona Socu, with three gold and one bronze medal.
