The Students from the Engineering Branch, visiting the "Apulum" 136 Engineering Batallion

The 1st year students from the engineering branch of the "Nicolae Balcescu" Land Forces Academy in Sibiu took part, together with students of the "Mihai Viteazu" National Military College in Alba-Iulia, in a demonstrative exercise presented by the military personnel of the "Apulum" 136 Engineering Batallion in Alba-Iulia, on the occasion of the Engineering Branch Day.

The event program of the activity was unique: presentation of the history and missions of the batallion, static exhibition of engineering equipment, destruction demonstrations in different environments with real explosive material and visualizing their effect in the field, visiting the Alba Carolina Citadel and the most representative museums in town.

A special attraction was the participation to the activities taking place in the training camp, on the watercourse of Santimbru area. The presentation of the capabilities during the workshops, such as the PR-71 pontoon park, crossing the water by using BP-10 assault boats, crossing the waterflow by pontoon gates or building a PJM-72 low metallic bridge, were of great interest for our cadets and enriched their knowldge about the engineering branch and the instruction of the pontoon subunits.

At the end, the military together with the students raced against one another during thematic competitions, like pulling the rope, cutting the log with the saw mill or throwing the pilot in the distance.
